The Apprentice Tec course also has strict prerequisites
- Certified as PADI Advanced Open Water diver or equivalent
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Certified as PADI Enriched Air diver or equivalent
- Certified as PADI Deep diver or equivalent
- Have a minimum of 50 logged dives of which at least 10 were made with Nitrox, 12 deeper than 60ft/12 metres and at least 6 deeper than 100ft/30 metres
Description
The DSAT Apprentice Tec course is a sub-course of the Tec Deep Diver course and takes 5-6 days of diving. The 'Apprentice tec' course allows the diver to make gas switch extended no-stop dives to 130ft/40 meters using air and enriched air (up to 60% oxygen) with technical diving equipment and procedures, be trained in the motor skills needed for technical diving, understand and acknowledge the hazards and risks involved in technical diving, prepare for and respond to reasonably foreseeable emergencies that may occur in this type of diving and provide the foundational skills and knowledge necessary for completing the entire Tec Deep Diver course.
Equipment requirements
Students are expected to have the following though we do have equipment for rental by daily rates.
- 2 back-gas regulators
- 2 stage regulators (1 O2 cleaned)
- 2 Depth gauge/timing device or computer
- 3 SPG's (1 O2 clean)
- Back plate/harness
- Wings (redundant) with at least 20kg/44lb lift
- Exposure suit protection (recommended 5mm to 7 mm full length and hood)
- Slates
- Surgical tubing (2 meters/7ft)
- Clips
- 2 line cutters
- Reel with lift bag/SMB
